School Counseling

West Valley Middle School Counseling Department is committed to supporting our students in their academic, social, and emotional development as well as college and career readiness. 

The focus of the school counseling program is to help students be academically prepared for secondary and post-secondary education, to be well-adjusted members of society, to become life-long learners, and to become productive citizens.  As such, school counselors are can offer individual and group counseling, academic planning and advising, and career exploration.

Define

West Valley Middle School Counselors follow student and professional standards to guide the development and implementation of the counseling program.

Manage

The helping role is centered on practicing within the mission established by the Counseling Department within Knox County Schools, which is to provide every student with a comprehensive school counseling program centered around an engaging curriculum that encourages growth in academic, career and personal/social domains.

Deliver

West Valley Middle School Counselors deliver both direct and indirect services through school counseling curriculum instruction, consultation, collaboration, and counseling services.

Assess

With the support of an Advisory Council, counselors will strive to assess both our effectiveness and the contributions made to all students' development throughout their middle school years.
